Our Carers

i-care takes great pride in its highly committed, trained and competent team of carers.

All our care staff undertake an intensive and carefully designed recruitment, selection and training programme.  All i-care staff successfully complete mandatory training courses such as Manual Handling, Protection of Vulnerable Adults, First Aid, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene.  They also complete specialised courses such as Dementia Care, Alzheimer’s and Stroke Awareness. This ensures we have a diverse, competent and committed workforce.
Each carer is also police checked to Enhanced CRB Disclosure level for safety and peace of mind.
It is important to us that our carers are passionate and enthusiastic about their job.  We are sure you’ll find each and every one of them friendly, empathetic, approachable and supportive.

Profiles

Sarah Charlton

Age: 33
Joined i-care in 2009
Job title: Care Assistant
First job: Domiciliary carer

Qualifications gained:

  • Health and Social Care (NVQ 2)
  • Pressure and bed sore training
  • Manual handling
  • Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA)
  • Health and safety
  • Food hygiene

Ambitions:

To continue to carry out my job with compassion, empathy, and giving choice and independence to service users to enable them to remain in there own homes.  I would also like to complete my NVQ 3 to become a senior member of the i-care team.

About me:

Prior to joining i-care I worked within the public sector and was heavily involved with care, working very closely with social workers.  I also worked at a well-know foster agency, but was made redundant.  This gave me the drive to pursue a change of direction.  I only wish I had made this change sooner, as it has been an absolute pleasure to work as a carer in the community.  i-care has given me the chance to retrain in a job I enjoy very much.
